Corpack recently teamed up with Livingcap to launch Sughera, a revolutionary cork-based material made from synthetic rubber mixed with grated cork. The material has been available since about last year, but has previously been used mainly in closed packaging for the food industry (mainly wine, etc.).

Jean-paul Corbeil, CEO of Corpack, has more details about the material and its application: "for the first time, parts were produced using injection molding without the use of a binder to form a micro-agglomerated cork. In addition to the unique ingredients, the combination of nature and technology, Sughera's unique characteristics are good resistance to various elements and ingredients, and extremely diverse in application. The new material (70 percent cork, 30 percent rubber blend) USES less petroleum-based material, reduces the overall use of plastic, and gives the components a natural look and texture, while also being 100 percent recyclable. Sughera supports a variety of colors. The natural look, soft surface feel, and cork features greatly enhance the user experience.
